Video Services

Alabama Public Library Service maintains and develops a collection of VHS & DVD Video's that are available to circulate to any public library in Alabama or to state government employees for work-related needs. See the online catalog.

The collection consists of programs on a wide variety of topics suitable for all age groups. Some of the topics that are available are history, biography, holiday stories, animated stories, literature, opera, music, do-it-yourself, animals, mysteries, sewing, childbirth, computer science, crime prevention, religions, science, children's stories, health issues, civil rights, anthropology, folktales, documentaries, adolescence, librarianship, and child development.

There are some restrictions on use of the items. They may not be shown where an admission fee is charged or where donations are solicited. They may not be transmitted over closed-circuit television or cable system without written permission from the producer and copyright holder. Videos in the APLS collection may not be copied or reproduced in any way in whole or in part. To do so is a violation of federal law.
